College Park, MD–

By the time Brenda Frese and her 3rd ranked Terps play their first real match up on Sunday against Baylor, they will have had enough tune-up games for what they can expect for the remainder of the season.

Tonight, they controlled this game from the opening tip and never really looked back. It would take the Mount almost 8 minutes to score their first basket and really they didn’t have much going for almost 15 minutes in the game.

Mimi Collins led the way for the Terps with 18 points. Ashley Owusu hit for 16 points and the leader of the team, Katie Benzan chipped in with 14 points and last but not least, Chloe Bibby finished with13 points. For Frese, she has a legit bench of players who can come in and also score in double-figures. This should prove to be a problem even for top ranked teams. Bibby and Collins also grabbed nine rebounds apiece.

Benzan shot 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point range, including her 100th career three-point make as a Terp. She also finished the night with eight assists and four steals.

Maryland’s defense forced 17 turnovers and limited the Mountaineers to just 35% shooting on the night.

The Terps have one more tune-up style game against UNC Wilmington on Friday night. UNC Wilmington was destroyed 87-45 at Duke on Sunday.
