Washington, D.C–

With two of their biggest stars out of the line-up with ankle sprains in Elena Delle Donne and Natasha Cloud, the Mystics were able to find a way to knock off the Indiana Fever, 96-88.

This was a much different game then the first match-up where Alyiah Boston was able to have her way with the Mystics, tonight it was much different she found it very tough to get the basket without some defensive pressure from the Mystics.

Washington jumped out early in the first quarter, but the Fever made it tough to pull away for the Mystics despite the hot shooting of Brittany Sykes, who led the way with 29 points, the second most scored in a game behind Elena Delle Donne’s 31-point performance this season.

The Mystics also had a different look on their team as this week they completed a trade with the Fever that sent Amanda Zahui B to the Fever in exchange for Queen Egbo.

Indiana had four starters in double figures: Lexie Hull (20), NaLyssa Smith (19), Kelsey Mitchell (18) and Aliyah Boston (12).

Ariel Atkins had a career night, scoring a season-high 26 points with a career-high 10 rebounds, securing the first double-double of her career. Her one three-point shot tonight puts her two three’s away from passing Ivory Latta (308) for the most three-point shots made in franchise history.

The Mystics head on the road to Connecticut to face the Sun on Sunday, July 9. The Sun won the previous two meetings.
