Miami, FL–

When you venture to Florida for vacation or business, sometimes you have to listen to the locals and venture off the beach. This is exactly what we did during out last trip to South Florida, when we took another reader recommendation and checked out Batch Miami, a true Gastro Pub located in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami.

batch inside 1Batch is a spot that you will want to unwind all night long. Whether you were stuck inside a meeting room all day, or just ventured off the beach or golf course, this place will make you feel right at home the minute you step in the door. Created as a “modern speakeasy,” its brick walls, exposed copper ducts, and vintage-looking lighting give this a vibe where you will want to come watch a game or hang all night long with their amazing food. Did we mention their hours? Open to a ripe 5am on weekends, these hours make it right for anytime of the day. Their use of both indoor and outdoor space with huge garage doors opening to a bar area give it a tremendous “live” vibe when it is packed on the weekends.

So where do we start with Batch? Cocktails sounds about right. We can appreciate craft cocktails, as we have reviewed enough establishments over the years to say who has a good drink and who has a great drink. When we checked out their unique barrel aged craft cocktail table pour options, we were blown away. Yes, you got that right, by the ounce, pour your own. Beer at the table is cool, but craft cocktails, no one in Miami has anything like this.

batch drinks 1There are 6 different cocktails on tap, all of which have their own distinct flavor and a touch of Miami in their names. Each one packs a punch of flavor and deliciousness. We can see getting carried away easily with these delicious libations.
The 305 Collins is one that really stands out with its robust flavor in the Mint Infused Absolut Vodka, Fresh Passion Fruit and a House Made Lemon Soda Carbonation. This is the best summer drink you will find anywhere in Miami. The flavors pops like no other, a great choice and for only $11.

Perhaps the most unique on the menu is their Gypsy Pepper which certainly is a first for us with its Sweet Bell Pepper Infused Bacardi Anejo, Superior Blend of Aperol Liqueur, Strawberry Infused Simple Syrup and Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice. Another great option for $11. This will increase your cravings for a sweet and spicy combination, so be careful when putting a few of these back.

There are also 6 hand mixed cocktails available if you prefer one that is mixed fresh right in front of you. We admit, this is the best way to try both of their delightful options. Their “Sake It To Me” definitely puts an interesting twist on a drink that many people find extremely harsh at first sip. Maybe it is their Coconut-Lemongrass Infused Sake that makes the drink, put in a little muddled cucumber and Beefeater Gin and you have another great Batch creation for $12.50.

If wine is more of your thing, then try their red, white or sangria on tap as well. See they have it well thought out here, a great variety allows choices for everyone. Buy the bottle or by the glass, you won’t be disappointed with their selections.
Naturally, with all of this talk about drink options, the food must be just as plentiful and good to the taste right? Of course! Batch has it all figured out. Want a steak and a place that serves Brick Oven Pizza, than this is your place.

batch wingsTheir snacks and small plates portion of the menu offers classic items and a few with their own twist. We highly recommend the Batch Chicken Wings with the Chili Glaze. Maybe it’s the Dorito Dust that makes these irresistible. Their Southwest Chicken Eggrolls are simply amazing and probably the most filling on this portion of the menu. Just jammed packed with shredded chicken, Oaxaca cheese and Poblano peppers. They have done a great job of mixing the flavor here.

The main menu and pub grub is where Batch really starts to fill your stomach with amazingness. If you have a chance to check out their map on the wall, it will tell where in Florida they source some of their amazing ingredients. They are true to the state and the flavor certainly reflects upon it.

The best menu item comes from their Pub Grub in their Batch Attack Burger. You want the kitchen sink for $22 you got it. This brisket burger is one of the best burgers in a long time we have tasted. Perhaps it is all of the extras in Panko Breaded Gnocchi and Gruyere, Maple Smoked Cheddar and the Pecan Jamison Bacon that sends it over the top. Ask for a side of this bacon, it’s that good.

Tacos at a pub that are done right, usually doesn’t happen very often, ones that are meal to remember, right here! Their Grouper Tacos scream Florida, but the portion screams that’s a lot of fish. The Pineapple Salsa, Crispy Slaw, Chipotle Aioli, Corn and Black Bean Salad make this a dinner option not to miss for $18.

The coolest part of the menu comes from their Mac Attack. Which is a mixture of Gnocchi Mac with Aged Gruyere cheese and basically any kind of add on you can imagine. Pulled Pork, Egg, chicken, they have what you need to customize a delight. I wonder what has been the most custom created mac and cheese.

batch cookieNo one can leave Batch, without another cocktail, or one of their Shenanigans, aka delightful bliss. Their warm Cast Iron Cookie with Vanilla Ice Cream is high addictive. You will want to make your own when you get home. The Batch Key Lime is signature Florida at is best. Several other hard choices line the menu, but have a few more drinks and try them all, what the heck, its Miami right?

Plenty of coffees and after dessert cordials also line the menu if you must.

Overall, Batch creates the homely vibe, but also fits the upbeat Miami scene. Let’s just say you will wish Batch was in your city. Go on in! Feel the Vibe. Whether its game day, of just your day, Batch makes it fun and filling all at the same time.(U)
