Washington, D.C–
We are back at it.. Its Week 2 D.C Defender XFL land and thanks to the person who probably lost money on their Stubhub tickets, we are four rows off the field for $22.80. While we don’t suggest waiting until 28 minutes before game time, for the second week in a row, we have scored tickets for less than a beer and round trip on Metro. Well.. we took Uber, but it was still less than both.
Again this week, the Defenders showed why they may be one of the best teams in the XFL. They have a solid package of both offense led by Cardele Jones, who I am sure may be the best quarterback in the league. Jones led his team to a 27-0 victory.
The former Ohio State quarterback completed 23 of his 37 pass attempts for 276 yards and two touchdowns but did throw one interception. After nine carries last week for 28 yards, Jones was only credited for one rush for 14 yards in this week’s contest. He did this against a New York defense that was the talk of Week 1 in the XFL.
Many of the fans we talked to today in and around Audi Field said this team could easily beat the Redskins.
“This is D.C’s new football team,” said Lorenzo Miles from Oxon Hill. “I love football and when its exciting, all the better. Dem Redskins haven’t done much to keep me interested the past few years, but this game seems like they want to play.” Give me some dudes who actually care and I am all in.”
The atmosphere inside and out seemed just as electrifying as the first game. While it didn’t seem as packed as the first game, the game time temperature of 38 degrees may have had something to do with it
Next up for the Defenders is their first road test against the Los Angeles Wildcats on February 23rd.
