Today marked the final day of practice before defending champion Rory McIlroy hits the links in search of becoming the first player to repeat at Sawgrass.
Other defending champions competing include 2018 winner Webb Simpson, who faces 30-1 odds, Rickie Fowler (2015) and Adam Scott (2004) at 33-1, and Matt Kuchar (2012) at 40-1 Players Championship odds 2020. Other elite 2020 Players Championship contenders include Jon Rahm (10-1), Justin Thomas (16-1), Dustin Johnson (28-1) and Brooks Koepka (40-1)
Over the past few days people around the course have been talking about is Jon Rahm, who is also challenging for the weekend.
Many of you may remember that he was the 54-hole leader last year, before that ill-fated decision at the 11th hole ended up at the bottom of a pond, helping lead him to a closing 76. He’s had at least one bad round in each of the three years he’s played the Stadium Course. He’ll figure this place out, but he may need one more year of learning the hard way.
