Washington, D.C–
After starting the season really slow, the Hoyas came back to Capital One Arena today and played a solid all around game against Central Arkansas grabbing a 89-78 victory.
Omer Yurtseven scored 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Hoyas, while sophmore center Hayden Koval totaled 21 points for the Bears, making 4 of 5 from the three point circle. Jagan Mosely had 13 points shooting a perfect 4-4 from the field and 3-3 from the free throw line; and Jamorko Pickett added 10 points for Georgetown. Pickett and freshman center Qudus Wahab led the team with 7 rebounds, and James Akinjo registered a team-high seven assists.
“We played much better than our first game,” said Hoyas Head Coach Patrick Ewing. “There is still a lot of things we need to work on over the next few weeks, but I am confident that these guys want to win games.”
Georgetown also saw the first of Josh LeBlanc after he was forced to sit out the season opener due to issues off the court. He will be a big presence in the offense and having him on the court today changed a lot of how the Hoyas were able to move the ball around the court.
