Washington, D.C–
There are no doubts after watching the Hoyas play UCONN tonight why they are the #1 ranked team in the nation as this game was never close and the Hoyas dropped the first of two games this season, 83-42.
UConn jumped out early with a 20-2 run and led by 31 points at halftime, setting the tone for the blowout. The Hoyas forced quite a few errant shots that the Huskies capitalized on more than six times before the half.\
Azzi Fudd, who played one final time in front of a hometown crowd struggled from long-range going 3 for 12 but finishing with 19 points.
Georgetown struggled from everyone around the court tonight and didn’t have a single player in double figures. Brianna Scott led the Hoyas with just 8 points.
Most notable about the Huskies is that after tonight’s victory, they improved to 20-0 for the first time since the 2017-18 squad won its first 36 games before losing in the Final Four of the women’s NCAA Tournament. UConn (10-0 Big East) has won 36 straight dating to last season.
Georgetown continued their struggles in the second half and along with Huskies poor shooting they tallied just 2 points in 6:28 and it didnt allow for the Hoyas to cut into the 30+ lead the Huskies had for most of the entire game.
UCONN had one final 10-0 run in the fourth quarter that basically ended the night for the Hoyas.
