Washington, D.C–

While the Hoya women have struggled in conference play so far this season, you wouldn’t know that with the way they played the first half today against #7 UCONN. Those struggles continued in the second half and ultimately the real Huskies showed up late and ran away with a 73-55 victory.

The Hoyas appeared to have an advantage starting this game as the Huskies were without Paige Bueckers (knee sprain) for the second-straight game while Ice Brady didn’t travel with the team due to an illness, but in the end, it was too much Azzi Fudd late in the game.

Fudd finished the game with 21 points and hit on 5 3 pointers.

The Hoyas made four of their first six shots from deep including one from Ariel Jenkins, who came in with just five triples all season to take a 16-8 lead. Unfazed, UConn slowly chipped away at the deficit and pulled within one by closing the first quarter on a 9-2 run.

The biggest stat of the night was even with the UCONN victory, the Hoyas held the Huskies to the narrowest margin of defeat so far in conference play.

Khadee Hession had her best game to date on the season scoring 22 points. Prior to tonight her highest tally on the season was 11 points twice.
