Washington, D.C–
When this game went into halftime and the Hoyas trailed by just 4 points 35-31, it looked like Ed Cooley had drawn up the perfect combination of offense and defense to match-up against the #9 UCONN Huskies… well then there was the second half.
The Huskies came out of the locker room in the second half a much better team and forced the Hoyas into a few early mistakes that allowed for Solo Ball and Samson Johnson to go to work giving the Huskies a 41-31 edge until Thomas Sorber hit 1 of 2 from the line at the 18:22 mark.
Alex Karaban continued to work the long ball and hit a key three pointer giving the Huskies their biggest lead of the day at 46-32.
Georgetown made a 15-4 run of their own but it was too little, too late. Micah Peavy scored 14 points on five for 12 shooting from the floor before following out and Malik Mack scored nine points on three for 12 shooting from the floor one for five from long range.
Jayden Epps played 14 minutes off the bench and scored just 3 points. There has not been an official report as to what is wrong with Epps, but during the game against Marquette he didn’t see any action and played just 4 minutes back on January 3rd against Xavier.
“What I am very, very proud of, is we got down pretty big, and we continued to fight and chip at that lead. I’m very proud of our men for that,” said Hoyas Head Coach Ed Cooley.
