Washington, D.C–

It’s just a few days away from the inaugural Crown Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas, but we have some more bad news for Ed Cooley and the Hoyas as today Thomas Sorber has decided to hire an agent and retain his eligibility while he tests the NBA Draft waters for 2025.

Sorber who had season ending surgery had been mentioned for potential NBA consideration, but his draft stock fell when he was hurt, and today’s announcement came as news to quite a few of us that have covered the Hoyas for quite some time. He had been battling the foot injury through January and into February before he was ruled out indefinitely.

The dream is for me to get to the NBA,” Sorber said. “Not just me, but my family.”

“I’ve always been looked over my entire basketball career,” Sorber told ESPN. “This wasn’t anything different. I just came in with the same mentality I always have. Which is to kill, kill, kill and try to help my team win.

There is a good chance that if he does come back that he could possibly consider entering the portal and see if there are any other NIL offers better than staying at Georgetown as the furture of this team is very uncertain at this point. Ed Cooley has improved this past season, but can he lure Sorber back with the hopes of trying for a Big East title in the next season?
