Washington, D.C–

One thing you will learn about this Hoyas team is that they are two different teams in the first and second halves of the game. Why American played them very close in the first half, the second half was quite different and was played without Mac Clung, who left the game with a eye injury.

The Hoyas had another balanced shooting effort from Omer Yurtseven who scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds on the day. Both marks led the team, and he shot 7-for-13 from the field and 3-for-5 from the free throw line.

Terrell Allen and Jahvon Blair each scored 14 points for the Hoyas, with Allen shooting 70 percent from the field on 10 attempts. Blair was 4-for-10, but went 2-for-6 from the 3-point arc and 4-for-5 from the FT line, with six rebounds. Jamorko Pickett finished with nine points, just missing double figures, while Timothy Ighoefe scored eight points.

American who seemed to find the way to get easy shots in the first half turned the ball over five times leading to four Hoyas baskets in the final 6:00, which continued to allow the Hoyas to balloon their lead to as many as 23 points.

Sa’eed Nelson had 17 points for the Eagles (4-7). Mark Gasperini added 12 points.
