Jimmy Lange Retains Title with 10 Round TKO Over Jonathan Reid

Fairfax, VA—

For the first few rounds of tonight’s main event, it looked like Jimmy Lange was going to get a run for his money from Jonathan Reid, but as late minutes of rounds 7 and 8 rolled around, the swelling around Reid’s left eye became more apparent of the damage Lange had done early and eventually the blood running from his nose caused fight to be stopped in the 9th round. Reid did not come out of his corner after completion of the 9th.

Lange, (31-3-2, 21 KOs) wins by TKO, seemed to start a little slow in the first three rounds but was able unleash a barrage of punches in the fourth and fifth round with Reid battling back blow for blow in the sixth and holding his own to which even some fans called the fight pretty even at this point.

Lange wouldn’t allow a take down in the corner of the ring and several times against the ropes to hold him back from a strong eighth round that included several strong punches to the face later leading to the outcome in the ninth round.

He fought me tough, but I know that I have trained extremely hard for going deep into fights like this one. I thought I had him several times in the 8th, but I knew that he was tired and wasn’t going to be able to come back for the 10th, said Lange.

In the undercard action, Demarcus Chop Chop Corley made his long awaited comeback by entering the ring on a crotch rocket and his entourage joining him in bike helmets. In his match he really didn’t need much of   a helmet, because this bout was back and forth and he eventually emerged as the winner for the first time since 2004. His next opponent will certainly not be as weak as what he faced tonight in Harrison Cuello. There were no strong blows delivered in this bout.   Was this really even an undercard? WOW!!

Another match that people came to see locally were the two women in the ring.   Hailing from Manassas, VA, the Bolivian Jennifer Salinas, defeated Caitlin Dance. The only advantage Dance had in this bout was her height.   She landed only a few punches and Salinas was able to avoid all of her major punches that if landed could have spelled trouble for Salinas.
