Lady Antbellum already has more than 40 major awards to their credit, including seven Grammy trophies, but the trio are about to recieve yet another honor. The threesome made up of Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood and Hillary Scott will receive the prestigious Recording Artists’ Coalition Award.
The award, named for the Academy’s artists’ rights program founded by Don Henley and Sheryl Crow, will be given out during the Recording Academy’s 2014 Grammys on the Hill Awards Tthis Wednesday night at the Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C.
Lady A will be joined by House of Representatives Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in being honored for their contributions to music in the American culture.
“We are proud to honor Lady Antebellum for their artistry and inventiveness in the country arena as well as their philanthropic efforts to make a difference for disadvantaged children here and abroad,” Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow says“The academy is also pleased to honor House leaders McCarthy and Pelosi for their tireless support of music, and we look forward to another incredible evening in our nation’s capital.”
The event will include a cocktail reception, dinner and an awards presentation ceremony. Known as “Washington’s most interesting mix of music and politics,” the evening will include live performances and tributes as well.
The Lumineers’ Wesley Schultz, Los Lonely Boys, songwriters Gary Burr and Victoria Shaw and singer Dionne Warwick are already scheduled to appear, along with several policy-makers and other notable Washington, D.C. politicians.
The star-studded event will be followed on April 3 by the Grammys on the Hill Advocacy Day, where hundreds of music professionals will spend time with lawmakers, working together to advance policies that improve the environment for American music.
