Natasha Cloud Loses the Handle Against the Aces in a 85-81 Loss to Las Vegas

It seems as the Mystics have hit a bump in the road over the past few games with the absence of Elena Delle Donne, tonight it was a fast start and slow finish that sent the Mystics to, 85-81 loss against the Las Vegas Aces.

This game was supposed to be the premiere match-up of the weekend, since the two teams had to suspend their game after the earthquake hit their game last week in Las Vegas, instead the Mystics without Delle Donne in the line-up could not keep pace in the 4th quarter and allowed the Aces to deal the last card for a victory that should have gone the other way.

Las Vegas delivered a solid dose of scoring from their usual suspects. A’ja Wilson and Liz Cambage combined to score 30 points. Kayla McBride made several key plays down the stretch.

Emma Meesseman returned from EuroBasket to score 15 points and grab 7 rebounds. LaToya Sanders recorded a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

“This was a tough one for us,” said Mystics Head Coach Mike Thibault. “Las Vegas is a very tough team and well coached and they took advantage of us being short handed today. We have to get back on track and hopefully Elena can be back in the line-up for us next game.”

With or without Delle Donne, they will have to find a way to get the scoring they have seen consistently from players like Kristi Toliver and Natasha Cloud. Both have been the difference with Delle Donne in the court for the nine victories they have on the season.
