Washington, D.C–
I will be the first to admit it has been a few years since the Monster Jam has crossed the radar to check out, but since it was an event, we checked out quite often when we were younger, I decided to venture out and see what Monster Jam was all about in the post Bigfoot years. This was chance to see the 40th Anniversary legendary truck Grave Digger live. Anyone who has been to a Monster Jam event before knows that the fans come to see what this truck can do. It has been featured almost everywhere in 40 years.
Gone are the days of the Monster Trucks smashing down on a pile of old cars and getting the crowd roused up with the sounds of smash and crack as they landed on top of them and in are the individual competitions from each driver. Some of the stops on the tour will feature different trucks but expect to see some of the names such as Gravedigger, El Toro Loco and Whiplash.
Some of the new additions for 2022 include the addition Weston Anderson, the youngest son of Monster Jam legend Dennis Anderson. He is the newest driver for Team Grave Digger. He made his Monster Jam Arena Championship Series East debut in North Charleston, SC on January 8th. Let’s just say the truck didn’t disappoint fans tonight.
While this Arena tour is still a lot of fun, I think that parts of the indoor shows are not really conducive to really showing off the horsepower of these amazing trucks. If you are looking for some dirt slinging in smaller fashion, this is always fun. For now, their indoor competition format seems to work. The event keeps filling arenas across the schedule leading up the Monster Jam World Finals in Orlando in May. This is a must see if you are a Monster Truck fan, as all of these drivers can unleash the power of their trucks on a much larger outdoor track environment.
