After tough road trip to Las Vegas, the Mystics returned home to face a struggled Los Angeles Sparks team, who had won just 7 games on the road coming into Saturday night, but with the Mystics struggled in this game you wouldn’t have thought this was a team that was barely holding on at the bottom of the Western Conference.
The Mystics came out in this game and let the Sparks stay close thanks to the hard-nosed play from Rae Burrell scored 20 points for the Sparks. Burrell got a little chippy in the second half and got into it with Alicia Florez, which resulted in a technical foul, and it was shortly after that the Mystics seemed regain corntrol of the game going into the fourth quarter.
The Sparks were unable to stop Sonia Citron in the final minutes and she would finish with 21 points, Shakira Austin had 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Austin who had her share of troubles in the first half when she was double and triple teamed multiple times forcing Mystics Head Coach to sit her for most of the third quarter. She came back in the fourth quarter and the Sparks had trouble keeping her from scoring in the paint.
The Mystics had one of their worst three-point shooting efforts of the season hitting on just 4 of 21 from long range.
The Mystics have a few days to prep for the upbeat Toronto Tempo who come to town on Wednesday night.
