Washington, D.C–
When you use the word dominance in sports, it can mean a few things. One player can be dominate, a team can be dominant or in the case record setting like the Mystics were today on their home court. Dominance came in the form of destruction of the Sun, 102-59.
The Mystics’ victory is tied for the fourth-largest margin of victory in WNBA history and the largest margin of victory in franchise history. Washington now owns two of the three 100-point games of the season.
The Mystics never trailed and once the scoring got started, Connecticut never tied the game. Washington was on fire from the floor, shooting 53.1 percent and nailing 13 three-point shots. It marks the fourth time that the Mystics have eclipsed the 50-percent mark this season and the third time that the team had made 13 shots from beyond the arc.
“We just have found a great combination of ways to get to the basket this season and everyone is eager to get in there and score off the bench,” said Mystics Forward Elena Delle Donne, who has taken this team to new heights this season and is set on winning title.
Delle Donne finished the game with 19 points and 10 rebounds, breaking her four game streak of 20 points plus per game. She was also helped with five other Mystics players in double figures.
Next up for the Mystics is a trip to Las Vegas where the visit the Aces in a game that should be another victory.
