Washington, D.C–
After another loss tonight, the Mystics have to start and wonder what is missing from this team that can actually help them get their first victory of the season? They have all but Brittany Sykes back in the line-up, but still cannot find a way to close out close games. Tonight, the results against Atlanta we much the same as the first 6 games.
Washington (0-7) is off to its worst start since 2007, when it set a franchise record with eight straight losses. The Mystics head on the road for games against the New York Liberty and the undefeated Connecticut Sun.
The Mystics ran into the same fourth quarter woes that they did against the Storm and the inability to find that go to player in the final minutes allowed for the Dream to outscore the Mystics in the final 4:24 of the game to grab a 73-67 victory.
Ariel Atkins led the team in scoring with season-highs in points and rebounds with 21 points and eight boards. She also added three assists and two steals.
Aerial Powers added 12 points and Cheyenne Parker-Tyus had 10 points and nine rebounds for Atlanta (3-2). Howard, averaging a team-high 21 points per game, was just 2 of 11 from the field.
