It was another visit from Angel Reese and the Sky to D.C tonight, but it was the Mystics show from start to finish in blow out fashion as they got back to 13-13 on the season with a 103-86 victory.
Reese, who has a rough couple of weeks may have had one of her best performances dating back to a couple weeks before the All-Star break with 22 points and 13 rebounds, but it was quite a few costly turnovers throughout the game that may have allowed the Mystics to pull away in the second half.
Sonia Citron continues to make a valid effort for rookie of the year consideration as she led the Mystics in scoring with 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting and even hit 5-of-6 three pointers. Kiki Iriafen added 22 points and 10 rebounds. Brittney Sykes added 18 points and 6 assists.
Citron and Iriafen are the first pair of rookie teammates to each have 20 points in the same game in Mystics history.
Another big factor behind the victory for the Mystics tonight was they converted 26 points off the Sky turnovers. Several of those errant passes by Reese led to three fast break buckets in the second half by the Mystics.
The win tonight by the Mystics moves them into 8th and final place for the playoffs. They return to the court on Thursday night as they face the Valkyries at ESA.
