Washington, D.C–

It is no secret that the Connecticut Sun have had quite few struggles this season and today the Mystics were not about to let the last place team in the WNBA take any time to shine today.

Washington got out to an early lead in this game and really never looked back the entire way and the used another solid night by Brittany Sykes and her 28 points to send to the Sun to another loss 104-67.

The Mystics continue to have to have an amazing rookie season from Kiki Iriafen, who’s 12 points along with Sonia Citron’s 11 points makes them one of the best rookie duos in the WNBA.

The difference in the game for the Mystics tonight that they were unable to do against the Liberty is get consistent runs on the Sun that put them deep in the hole late in the game. Washington had two significant runs, their first one, a 11-2 run made it 62-40 and later in the game the Mystics closed on 16-2 run.

Another big step for the Mystics has been their bench play. Alliyah Edwards was slow to get into her groove to start the season, but today you could see that she is getting to know this team better and had 13 points off the bench.

Washington shot 57% (36 of 63) with 24 assists and made 26 of 37 from the line for its first 100-point game since 2023. Tonight’s game was the eighth-highest game point total in franchise history and the sixth highest in regulation.

The Mystics will have an entire week off before facing the Atlanta Dream at home on Sunday. Before that game, Mystics top pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Georgia Amore will hold a media availability to update all of us on the status of her rehab for the ACL injury.
