Las Vegas, NV–

nascar strip 2Way back in 1993 before all of the Glitz and Glam of Vegas a young Jeff Gordon stepped on to the then Winston Cup Series track with the likes of Dale Earnhardt Sr, Rusty Wallace, Dale Jarrett just to name a few, well this weekend it was one final go round for Jeff Gordon as he made his final pass on the Las Vegas strip as an active driver on the Sprint Cup Series.

This weekend wasn’t all about Gordon, who certainly stole the show on the strip as he put on a great smoke show in front of the Wynn Casino in their annual cars driving down the strip to celebrate the drivers in the Chase for the Cup.

Hometown favorite Kyle Busch and the M&M’s Number 18 seemed to have just as many admirers waiting to see him do his victory lap up the strip as well.

Another great After the Lap featured some funny stories of the season and the topic of the season seemed to be who could be mad at Joey Lagano this year.

Champions Week culminated Friday night with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards at Wynn Las Vegas hosted by Drew Carey, with performances by Andy Grammer, Sam Hunt (who headlines at Chelsea in the Cosmopolitan later that evening) and Rachel Platten.  For those who are baseball fans, another Vegas Native, Bryce Harper joined in on the celebration on the red carpet at the Wynn Casino.

NASCAR faithful fans now only have to wait less than 80 days for the Daytona 500 to kick off the next season on Valentine’s Day Weekend, followed by the 2016 NASCAR Weekend from March 4-6 returning to Las Vegas again, minus one of their biggest names in the sport.
