Orlando, FL–
There are days when the Wizards look like one of the best teams in the league and there are nights like tonight where it appeared the team just didn’t show up in the second half of the game.
For most of the first half the Wizards seemed to have that same energy they had the past few games and even some of the same energy that helped them knock off the Celtics just two nights ago… Wonder what happened tonight? No unstoppable Ish and a 123-89 loss that’s what happened.
Orlando took control for good with a 23-5 run to close the second quarter, punctuated by a dunk by Nikola Vucevic in the final seconds, for a 69-52 lead.
“When you get a lead early, and the zone (defense) slows the game down, you can lose your concentration, lose your intensity,” Magic coach Steve Clifford said. “I thought our guys did a good job.”
The advantage ballooned to 29 points in the early stages of the third quarter.
Something of note is that this is the first time the Magic have swept the season series since the 2011-12 season. Not a good stat the Wizards would like to add to the list, since Orlando is not one of the better teams in the league this year.
Washington had one bright part of their game tonight, the play of Admiral Schofield and Troy Brown Jr. Both had 18 points to lead the Wizards.
Tonight also became another one of those what if for the Wizards… What if Wall was there… Beal etc.. Not sure how many more times we can say that this season with good nights and the bad nights… tonight was just historically bad for the Wizards.. Good thing this was just a one game road trip.
