If you blinked your eyes for a few more minutes of sleep this morning, then you may well have missed the surprise 5 song set by Stevie Wonder outside the D.C Armory to promote his “Songs in the Key of Life” performance tour.
Wonder announced 20 new dates for the tour, including a show at D.C.’s Verizon Center on Oct. 3. Wonder played at the Verizon Center in November as part of the tour. He will play similar pop-up concerts today in Philadelphia and New York.
Wonder talked with the fans about reuniting the love that is missing in the United States these days and hopes that it can be restored through his upcoming tour.
Wonder praised humanitarian efforts of former President Jimmy Carter before resuming music and called him the greatest president of all time. Wonder wants to start a “Claim The Bullet” campaign to fight gun violence in which he hopes funds from this tour will help go to that cause.
