Chicago, IL–
For quite a few years, New York Liberty forward Jonquel Jones has been one of the most recognized players for the New York Liberty and most likely one of the best players in the WNBA and tonight on the big stage in Chicago for the 30th season of the inception of the league she helped team Spoon capture a 129-122 victory
Jonquel Jones had 22 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists, which allowed her not only to grab the victory, but hoist the MVP trophy for the game.
Her 8-of-17 effort from the field in 22 minutes made her the first international player to win All-Star Game MVP honors. We can add that there wasn’t a ton of defense to start the game and Jones was dominate on the floor during that time.
Caitlin Clark opened the game with two very long three pointers from 33 feet and 37 feet on her way to 11 points in the first 2:30 of the game. She finished the game with 17 points and had a solid performance after missing the 2025 All Star game in Indy due to an injury.
During the first half it also looked as if there could be another possible MVP candidate in Marina Mabry who was hot from long distance early but cooled off in the second half finishing 5 for 14 from three-point range and 9 for 21 from the field for 23 points.
Olivia Miles posted 11 points and 12 rebounds in Team Spoon’s victory. Allisha Gray added 19 points while Caitlin Clark contributed 17 points, four rebounds and five assists.
Kelsey Mitchell led Team Coop in the loss with 28 points as Bueckers contributed 12 points and seven assists. Dominique Malonga contributed 12 points and 13 rebounds.
