College Park, MD–

Today marked the annual field trip day game for the Terp Women’s basketball and it might have well been a field trip for the Central Connecticut Blue Devils they would have rather not made. When we say this game wasn’t even close… it seemed like it was over in the first 60 seconds of the game.

The #7 ranked Terps not only smothered the Blue Devils on defense, but they also forced 25 turnovers in the game and held the Blue Devils to 2 points in the second half. You heard that right, just 2 points.

Maryland had this game well under control after getting out to a 39-14 lead behind the play of Senior Yarden Garzon, who led the way for the Terps with 25 points. She was helped by another solid day by Oluchi Okananawa, who finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds in 23 minutes of action.

Today’s victory marked the fourth time in Brenda Frese’s career that the team has started 13-0 and also becomes the second straight season that Frese has started at 13-0.

Earlier in the day the Terps announced that Bri McDaniel would not play the remainder of the season trying to recover from a torn ACL that happened back in January of 2025.

“Bri hasn’t been released from the doctor,” head coach Brenda Frese said Thursday morning. “She’s slowly building up to contact drills, but in the half court. That’s a day-to-day, week-to-week thing.”

McDaniel’s decision to sit the rest of the year will allow her to take a medical redshirt and play her entire senior season in 2026-27.

The Terps next see action against Wisconsin on December 29th at 4:00pm before heading on the road to face Illinois to start 2026 on January 1st.
