Coming into today’s match-up against the Hoyas, Brenda Frese gave their team a lot of credit and how they carry a bit more size then the Terps and the presence was felt early in the game by the attack by Addi Mack in the final frame was all the Terps needed to escape in an 85-66 victory.
Mack, who was a huge part of the Terps fourth quarter 34-9 advantage in where the Hoyas remained close when the game was tied at the 7:20 mark 58-58. This is when the Terps put on one of the strongest offensive efforts of the early season.
The Hoyas who had quite a bit of success early from the perimeter went almost two minutes without scoring the fourth that made the
Khia Miller scored 18 points and Khadee Hession added 14 for Georgetown (1-1) in the first meeting between the schools inside the Capital Beltway since Nov. 13, 2011.
“I love seeing [Addi] on the big stage,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “That’s why she came here and she’s going to have a lot more moments like this.”
One thing we could see from today’s match-up is Georgetown has a decent squad this year, but it’s the long-range shooting that they need to work on. The 23.8 percent today isn’t going to contribute to many wins in conference play. Maryland did an excellent job on the boards today outrebounding the Hoyas 45-27. This made a huge difference in the final score today for the Terps.
