Indianapolis, IN–

If this was the last Big Ten game for Maryland’s Derik Queen, it will be one for the ages to remember the finish where one missed shot turned into the Wolverines going the distance and dropping the game winner with 0.1 remaining on the clock and advancing on to the final to face Wisconsin tomorrow.

Tre Donaldson got the ball on the inbounds then proceeded to beat three Terps defenders and released a contested layup with one second remaining that dropped in causing heartbreak for the Terps. It would have been its first-ever Big Ten Tournament championship game.

For Donaldson, this was his second big pay in the final minutes that included a 3 pointer to give the Wolverines a 79-76 lead.

Unlike yesterday when Rodney Rice got hot quickly, he was basically held without any offensive threat in the first half as the Wolverines found a way to smother the open shot and the Terps were forced to play quite a bit of the big game inside against the Michigan bigs.

Vladislav Goldin, who had 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Danny Wolf Jr. with 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Wolverines.’

The loss today by the Terps ends their 9 game win streak,

While the Terps head back to College Park, there is still plenty to be hopeful for, as they most likely will get a 4 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, but a few other conference match-ups could determine that final seeding.

Coach Willard liked what he saw from his team today and but said they ran into a really good Michigan team at the end.
