Madison, WI–

When the 2025 season started for Maryland football, we hardly had an idea who was going to be the starting quarterback… going into Week 4, we now have a Terps team that has just knocked off Wisconsin led by Malik Washington and sits a 4-0 going into a week off before they face Washington at home.

Washington completed 18 for 34 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns on the afternoon, also adding one score on the ground. Octavian Smith led all Terps receivers, finishing with six catches for 113 yards.

Wisconsin showed their only really signs of decent offense when they moved the ball deep into Maryland territory before its drive was halted by the Terps defense. The Badgers ran for just two yards on a 3rd-and-7, then Nathanial Vakos’ 38-yard field goal attempt was blocked.

Once former Terp Billy Edwards Jr. left the game their quarterback struggles began Danny O’Neil who replaced him after the Edwards drive down the field which would later be intercepted by Jalen Husky

Maryland who also has emerged as defensive team this season over the past 3 games seemed to show no difference today putting the pressure on Wisconsin early and often and forcing them into

Washington’s 62-yard touchdown to Shaleak Knotts capped a six-play, 99-yard touchdown drive.

Want to know how bad this game really was through the fourth quarter for Wisconsin? Most of the Bucky faithful started leaving by the 9-minute mark of the fourth quarter. They didn’t even get the chance to see Third-string quarterback Hunter Simmons connect with Lance Mason on a 13-yard touchdown with just 28 seconds remaining. This was all that the Badgers even had the entire game.

With the 265 yards today, Washington becomes the first true freshman in a Power Conference program to do so since 2020 tallying 1038 yards.
