College Park, MD–

The Terps Used a Drought of Ohio State Scoring in the 4th Quarter to Secure a 75-69 Victory

At halftime of the game today against Ohio State, it looked as if the game could go either way, by the start of the fourth quarter, the Buckeyes looked as if they would come into Xfinity and steal a Big Ten victory from the Terps. That’s when the Brenda Frese close out came in key in a 75-69 victory.

The big difference for the Terps down the final stretch was that Ohio State made only one basket over the final four minutes while being outscored 9-3.

“I thought we showed a lot about our character down the stretch with our poise, especially in the fourth quarter,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “I mean we had to get stops on the defensive end. We were able to step up and we forced them into five turnovers in that stretch. Obviously, that was the difference in the game. But I feel like we are still, obviously with the blend of our team, kind of still trying to learn ourselves with our strengths and our weaknesses.”

This team has plenty of options for Frese to put on the court at any given time that includes Shakira Austin, who some say will surely be a WNBA pick in the future and the Junior pair who combined for 40 points tonight in Kaila Charles and Stephanie Jones.

Next up for the Terps: A trip to Nebraska, where Frese goes for her 500th career victory.
