If you are a Wizards fan and you watched some of the young talent out on the court tonight, you can see some promise for the future, but you can also see they need quite a few puzzle pieces to become competitive against other young teams like the Magic.

While the Magic have quite a few solid stars on their team, sweeping a team in a season series shows what the Wizards have to do to make a solid impact going forward. The combination of Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero were more than enough to hold off any late run by the Wizards.

Tonight’s 109-97 loss to the Magic left many questions as to who comes back for the Wizards next season and the absence of Jordan Poole from the line-up makes a huge difference in the final outcome.

What we did see is a career night by Bub Carrington with 32 points and the ability to press the ball down the court and score from long range when needed. The Wizards could have found that role bench player for next season and a combination of Corey Kispert could provide that missing bench scoring that has been oh so inconsistent all season long.

One big problem for the Wizards in this game was that they didn’t have enough firepower to come back from the 61-45 deficit at the half.

Orlando closed the game on a 28-21 run, led by Paolo Banchero, who finished the game with 33 points and 18 boards.
