Washington, D.C–
After having a couple games of all around good play, the Wizards fallen back into the same old groove, another loss that could have been something had they been able to keep it together late in the game.
The Wizards had a great night from Corey Kispert who scored a season-high 26 points, but neither Kuzma or Poole could get it done in crunch time.
The Wizards had an 18-4 run late in the fourth but failed to make it a one-possession game when Poole missed his second of two free throws with 31 seconds left. Poole finished the game with 16 points and 10 assists.
Miami took its first lead on Terry Rozier III’s free throws early in the third, then took control with a 21-6 run to end the period.
The Wizards also seemed to have no answers for the ageless Kevin Love, who hit a few key shots late in the game that kept the Wizards from creeping back in the fourth.
“We just knew we had to play with more energy, as more of a cohesive unit,” Love said. “And from the start of the third all the way through, we felt like we did that.”
Washington gets a day to rest before they face the return of Bradley Beal and the Suns on Sunday afternoon.
