Washington, D.C–
There have been a few games this season where we thought this Wizards team could actually be something to talk about, tonight, it was much the opposite as the Wizards found themselves down by double digits most of the game and would end of on the wrong end of a 124-104 loss to the resurgent Pistons.
The Wizards were flat outplayed the entire game by Malik Beasley, Jaden Ivey and Cade Cunningham. who scored 28, 26 and 21 points respectively as the Pistons improved to 7-8 overall and have now won seven of their last 11 games.
The loss tonight sends the Wizards to 2-10 on the season and left many in attendance wondering if they had the right choices by keeping by Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma, who scored 22 each tonight in the loss.
Detroit led the Wizards by 23 points at the end of the third quarter, 102-79 and only allowed the Wizards a small window in the fourth quarter to have a shot in the fourth quarter. They gave up a 9-0 run to open it, and missed eight of their first 10 shots before pushing their lead back to 22, 122-100, with under three minutes remaining.
A few key take aways from tonight were the continued struggled by Wizards First Round draft pick Alex Sarr, who finished 1 for 7 tonight. Washington had 17 turnovers compared to Detroit’s nine, and the Pistons had a 27-11 edge in points off turnovers.
Next up for the Wizards a road trip to New York on Monday night.
