Wizards Continue Sizzling this Summer with Summer League and Big Signings

Las Vegas, NV—

While it is certainly hot in Vegas over the past few day, nothing is even hotter than the play of the Washington Wizards in summer league and their offseason acquisitions in the free agent market in the past week.

With the signing of both Paul Pierce and DeJuan Blair, the Wizards have bolstered on the best front courts in the Eastern Conference.

In five seasons with San Antonio and Dallas, Blair has appeared in 366 career regular season games (179 starts) while averaging 7.5 points and 5.6 rebounds in 18.2 minutes per game. He has shot .529 from the field and has 36 career double-doubles. His most productive season was in 2010-11 when he averaged 8.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in 21.4 minutes per game. Last season with Dallas, Blair appeared in 78 games (13 starts) and averaged 6.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in 15.6 minutes per game.

Not only have the Wizards been making waves in the free agent market, they have gotten some of their best play from both Glen Rice Jr. and Otto Porter in the Summer League play right here in Vegas.

Rice and Porter again led the way in scoring in a victory over Miami tonight, Rice with 22 and Porter with 14 points. Rice also notched his first double-double out here, pulling down 10 boards in the win. Both Rice and Porter shot 50 percent from the field. He remains the leading scorer at Summer League and the leader in free-throws attempted.
