Washington, D.C–
The Wizards have had their share of ups and downs this season, and over the past few games it appears it’s on the way back down again as they battle with the bottom of the NBA for the success of the future.
Washington led by three at halftime, but as they have in many games this season had their share of offensive struggles in the second half and failed to Toronto’s answer second-half surge and it resulted in 134-125 loss.
The Wizards had a good chance to keep this game within range as the score was 98-92 ending the third quarter. As they have in over 20 games this season, the Wizards have failed to contain a team from long range late in the game and the Raptors took advantage of that behind two quick buckets by Scottie Barnes at the 8:30 and 7:58 mark of the fourth quarter that broke open the lead at 13 points, 113-100.
Washington wouldn’t score for almost 3 minutes when Tristan Vukcevic hit a three pointer at 6:18 cutting the lead to 10 at 117-110, but this is about as close it would
Bilal Coulibaly and Kyshawn George continued to show their ability to deliver consistently each night and scored 14 points each tonight.
All five Toronto starters scored at least 18 points. RJ Barrett contributed 21, and Scottie Barnes scored 18 and Jakob Poeltl had 18 with 10 rebounds.
Washington has one more game remaining at home against Houston on Monday night before hitting the road for four out of their next 5 games.
Prior to tonight’s game, Trae Young, warmed up, but there is still no timeline for his return. The Wizards have made no indication as to if he could be close to game action.
