Washington, D.C–

Two days after the trade deadline, the Wizards have some offense working, but unfortunately, the defense has not been good enough for the opposing team for putting up big numbers. Tonight, it was the Hawks that pulled away late and dropped the Wizards to 9-43 on the season with a 125-111 loss.

In the game last night, Jordan Poole put up a 45-point effort, the first for a Wizards player since 2021 in Bradley Beal. Tonight, his 21 points was just not enough for Trae Young’s 35 points and 14 assists.

Young, who has been a thorn in the Wizards side since he came in the league found ways to distribute the ball and forced the Wizards to make late shifts on defense that seemed to catch them off guard the entire game.

Atlanta outscored Washington 41-26 in the third quarter to completely blow the game open.

The Hawks team seems to be finally gelling together as No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher had 18 points of his own for the Hawks.

Washington doesn’t have much time to take these two losses and put them aside as San Antonio comes to town on Monday night.
