Washington, D.C–
In the NBA you have a wide spectrum of teams and some searching for their second half of the season goals…
Tonight’s match-up was a feature of the 10’s. So, you might ask what does 10 have to do with the Wizards and Nets? Well both teams have been in search of two different types of 10’s. The Wizards have been looking for their 10th win for quite a few weeks and the Nets are just trying to stay in the 10th spot in the NBA standings. Neither team was willing to give in this game and another down to the wire game ensued… this time with the Wizards finally getting a 107-99 victory over the Nets.
Jordan Poole put himself right in the mix as he has done in quite a few games this season and it was his late game heroics that were the difference in the game tonight.
Washington trailed late in the game, 97-96 after leading by as many as 14 points in the first half. They used a 7-0 run that included a 3-pointer and a long 2 by Poole.
Bilal Coulibaly added 20 points for the Wizards and continued to show his leadership for the younger guys on the team.
One of the most notable things about the game tonight was the Wizards committed 23 turnovers and still found a way to win the game.
Brooklyn came into the game tonight on a hot streak and had won seven of the last nine games. This could prove to be a setback to make the the play-in round. The Nets are 1 1/2 games behind Chicago for the final spot, and they’re 0-2 against the Wizards this season.
“We didn’t do a lot of things correct in the fourth quarter and as many of you could see the tempers got the teams together, but I think it got the vets like Marcus and Khris fired up to play some solid defense when we needed it the most.
Washington is back in action on Wednesday night against Portland. Can they make it two in a row?
