As the 2026 NBA Las Vegas Summer League concludes in Las Vegas, the Washington Wizards leave with a participation trophy, but they are looking at a much different 2026-27 season coming up here very soon with the performances in two games by AJ Dybanstra in the first two games before being shut down for the remainder of the sessions.
While there are some teams trying to figure out what they have like the Memphis Grizzlies, who today were knocked off by Golden State, 94-90 in another solid effort by #11 pick Yaxel Lendeborg’s 21 points and 10 rebounds.
For the Grizzlies, who need quite a bit of replenishment to get back to where they need to be, they had a solid summer from Cameron Boozer, who showed the league that the #3 pick is also ready to contribute right out of training camp with another strong showing today with 17 points. Boozer has the ability to get in the paint and score and his rebounding is NBA ready now. Should be a fun time in Memphis come end of October.
Washington goes home on a high note with 91-83 victory over the Hawks and finished summer league in 12th place. Not really sure that means anything with the players they had on the court on Saturday night.
The big question remains, what will Will Dawkins do come training camp? Could be that he just needed to get a last look at who could fit in at the G League, but it seems as if they have a fully completed puzzle come training camp, but do they have enough to apply the lacquer spray on top of it to keep it together, so the injuries don’t allow for it to fall apart? Only time will tell, but most fans we talked with that came to see this team seem the most excited they have been since the John Wall draft era.
