Indianapolis, IN–
There have been a few games early on this season where you could say that the Wizards were right there enough to pull out the dub right? Tonight, against the Pacers was one of those games.
Washington had the game well within reach in the final 1:50, but it was key mistakes and miscues in the final minute that helped the Wizards let the Pacers run out of Gainbridge Fieldhouse with a 115-103 victory.
The big difference in that final minute stretch, Pascal Siakam, He would led the Pacers to a 12-point win over the Wizards and finish the night with 22 points 6 rebounds 6 assists 7-of-14 FG 2-of-3 3PT 6-of-6 FT.
When the Wizards went into the locker room up 2 points at the half, it looked as if they had enough to roll with the Pacers to the end, that was when Tyrese Halliburton took over going into the 3rd quarter.
Kyshawn George was put into the starting lineup for Jordan Poole, who was ruled out of the game with a hip injury prior to the start pf the game. George had one of his better games tonight so far of the season, scoring 15 points while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out five assists.
Without Poole and his scoring and ability to get to the basket late in the game, the Wizards struggled to find that go to no guy to battle against Obi Toppin and Siakam.
After tonight, the Wizards would like to possibly forget about Siakam for good as he has had their number dating back to his days with the Raptors.
One good take away for the Wizards tonight was that all five starters scored in double figures with Bilal Coulibaly and Alex Sarr scoring 17 points apiece for the team high.
Next up for the Wizards is a match-up against the Bulls on Tuesday night at home.
