Washington, D.C–

The Wizards had high hopes of closing out the home schedule of the 2024-25 season with a victory over the Sixers, however the late quarter woes continued and the finished off the home slate with… yes… another loss to the Sixers 122-103.

The Sixers came into Capital One Arena tonight with some struggles of their own. Losers of last 12 games, the Sixers are without any “star” notables in their line-up, but certainly didn’t show much of that late in the game as they got some offensive power from Jeff Dowtin Jr in a career night with 30 points.

Dowtin, made a homecoming nice for himself as the Washington, D.C.-area native is on a two-way contract for Philadelphia, played for the 76ers for the first time this month. He went 11 of 15 from the field and made four 3-pointers, surpassing his previous career high of 24 points from March 14 against Indiana.

Tristan Vukcevic led the way for the Wizards with 24 points as he continues to shake off the rust of getting little playing time over the season due to injury. He has finally started to show some of why the Wizards drafted him and his long-range threat is continuing to show that it could be a big asset next season.

Washington (17-63) will finish with the worst record in the Eastern Conference, although it’s possible Charlotte could tie the Wizards. Utah, at the bottom of the West, was 16-63 entering Wednesday.

The Wizards also need to win out the next two games in a row to avoid adding the title of worst record in franchise history to the list of things that we would like to forget about this season.
