Washington, D.C–

When you look over at the Wizards bench and you see all of the players that are done for the season and then you look at the Kings that have quite a few stars on the court at the same time and the result is a much needed 116-111 victory for the Wizards… you can see shades of what this team can be next year.

The question is what do they need to play for these final few weeks? Self pride.. evaluation for the front office… or just like hey here we are… but wait until you see what we are next season. Any of these are a good reason to pay attention to these final games and see more of what was put on the court tonight against the Kings.

For the Kings, their 36-40 record isn’t much to write home about, but it is more than double what the Wizards have this season, except tonight they really didn’t play like the better team.

DeMar DeRozan scored 20 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter trying to rally the Kings from a 14-point deficit after three quarters. The Kings outscored the Wizards 34-25 in the fourth but never got closer than 111-109 inside the final minute.

Washington continued to get some effective production from the young guys on the team such as Bub Carrington and AJ Johnson who both stepped up with 19 points each.

The Kings really needed a win tonight as they are trying to hold onto a spot for the play-in tournament. Sacramento came in at No. 10 with only two games left against teams either eliminated already or below the Kings in the Western Conference standings.

Washington returns to the hardwood again tomorrow night for their second to last game at home this season where they have won just 8 times this year.
