Washington, D.C–

Each year when the NBA Draft rolls around each year teams start to think about what is going to work and what they need to fix. Today the Wizards started with a fix and getting the guy they wanted at #2 in the Draft in Alex Sarr and earlier in the day sending Deni Avdija to Portland in exchange for Malcolm Brogdon, the 14th pick in tonight’s draft plus another first round pick in 2029.

Sarr played last season for the Perth Wildcats in Australia. He also spent two years in the U.S. with Overtime Elite, a developmental league.

In 27 games with Perth, he averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 17.3 minutes per game.

In a live feed the Wizards brought a digitized version of Sarr to Capital One Arena tonight, where he said that he could not wait to get started and the core of young players makes him excited to be coming to Washington.

Sarr is expected to make the trip to D.C tomorrow with a press conference scheduled for Saturday to formally introduce him D.C. He could possibly make an appearance at the Mystics game tomorrow night.

The Wizards were not done for the night making another move at 26 sending their pick to Oklahoma City via New York acquiring Kyshawn George.
