Washington, D.C–
Tonight was Round 2 of the Wizards vs Pacers and the results were much the same as last night with the Wizards emerging victorious late in the game, 131-118.
For those who watched this game, it was another battle of the G League rosters with a few regular NBA guys, but with a Wizards team that hungry to win another game where the roster had more guys on 10-day contracts then actual NBA guys on the court for both teams. The end result, another exciting game to watch.
Alondes Williams had career highs with 25 points and 10 rebounds in just his 11th NBA game. Sharife Cooper matched his career high with 18 points for Washington, which moved two games above Indiana at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.
So many are asking, why start winning now when you need to stay toward the bottom to grab the higher chances of a lottery pick that will add to all of what the front office has put in place? Perhaps the Wizards are actually not trying to tank, but evaluate in the process and set themselves up at the end right where they need to be. The Pacers are in the same scenario and their 2-4 road trip certainly is setting them up to find that guy in the draft as well.’
The Wizards put up 138 points without Keyshawn George in the line-up tonight, as he sat out with a sprained toe suffered in the first game against the Pacers.
Next up for the Wizards is a meeting with Charlotte on Sunday evening.
