Washington, D.C–

Well the Wizards surely didn’t waste too much time in getting Troy Brown Jr. to D.C to get started on what they believe will be a big piece of the puzzle for the upcoming season, or will it. One wonders what is next for the Wizards, but today it was all about their first round pick, Troy Brown Jr.

The 6-foot-7 guard from the University of Oregon met with season-ticket holders before the press conference. It was also revealed that Brown will wear jersey No. 6 with the Wizards, and that the two sides have agreed to the terms of his rookie contract. Brown will be able to sign the deal starting July 1.

Brown said he was excited to play alongside star guards John Wall and Bradley Beal and noted he was aware of the city’s sports culture.

“A lot of people appreciate their sports around here, even more than basketball,” Brown said. “It’s a great culture and I feel like there’s a lot of good things to appreciate about this city. I’m just happy to be here and that everybody’s accepting me.”

Brown was also asked about knowing D.C for being a basketball city and its love for it. He then talked about coming to visit then Coach John Thompson III at Georgetown and that he liked the city one of the reasons for making the visit.

Thompson said after the pick, that” we tried really hard to get Troy to come here, we met with his family ultimately, he stayed closer to his home in Vegas, but he has a great knowledge of basketball and hope he does well with the Wizards,” said Thompson.
