Washington, D.C–

On a night that featured the return of Deni Avdija to D.C, for most fans the support was amazing behind the Blazers bench, but it was the victory the Wizards had hoped to pull off, that just quite a few other games at home this season fell apart in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

While Avdija didnt have an effect on the final numbers tonight after exiting the game early on with an injury scoring just 5 points, it was the remainder of the upstart young Blazers team that got it done down the wire.

One of the most memorable parts of this game came early on when Shaedon Sharpe threw down one of the sickest dunks of recent memory to leave the Wizards faithful in shock. The crank back duck sent people turning looking other fans all over Captial One Arena and is sure to be talked about for weeks to come.

Sharpe finished the game shooting 13 of 26 from the floor and converted all four of his free throws inside the final minute as the Trail Blazers maintained a lead of at least three throughout the fourth quarter.

Washington turned to Jordan Poole late in the game, but Poole who finished the game with 20 points had no outlets when it needed it and Marcus Smart was tagged with a technical foul late in the fourth which allowed for Portland to maintain possession after the technical, keeping the Wizard out of striking range after Poole had cut the lead to 6 points with 43 seconds remaining.

Next up for the Wizards a trip to Charlotte and Miami before returning home on 3/5 to face the Jazz.
