Washington, D.C–

For the second time in a just a few days, the Wizards faced the woeful New Orleans Pelicans and had the same results, another loss.

Washington paced the Pelicans early on in the first quarter, but the absence of Bilal Coulibaly and Jordan Poole were just too much as the Wizards dropped to 6-27 on the season with a 110-98 loss.

It wasn’t just C.J McCollum, who scored 50 points against Washington on Friday night, but more of all around effort by the Pelicans that had Dejounte Murray scoring 14 points and adding 12 assists and 10 rebounds for his 20th career triple double. Trey Murphy III added 22 points for the Pelicans.

After taking NBA rookie of the month honors this past week, Alex Sarr continued to have another impressive outing with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Sarr is now averaging 12.1 points and 6.5 rebounds on the season.

One of the biggest problems for the Wizards tonight is that their bench scored just 28 points the entire game and while the Pelicans didn’t fare much better, all five of their starters were in double figures.

Kyshawn George scored just one point tonight (0-7 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT) but did add three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 27 minutes. Clearly not one of his best games this season.

The Pelicans had a scare late in the game when Trey Murphy III turned his ankle. He went back to the locker room, and the Pelicans eventually ruled him out of the game.

The Wizards will most likely have the day off tomorrow, with the incoming snowstorm and face the Rockets on Tuesday night.
