Richmond, VA–
For those who thought the Washington Wizards might finally start 100 percent healthy for the first time in a few years had another set-back today when the team announced that Etan Thomas had not been cleared to play after it was discovered during a physical that he had an irregular heart beat.
Etan has not been cleared to practice. This is a serious matter and our thoughts are with him. He will have some further tests, there will be an evaluation, and we will wait for the results to come back,” said Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld.
The biggest surprise of the day came when the media viewed Gilbert Arenas workout for the first time since his injury and appeared that he was ready to go no wearing a brace of any kind on his surgically repaired left knee. He did make a fashion statement with his capri Wizards cut-off sweat pants. He says he is ready for the season ands likes the chemistry already.
It is great to finally get back on the court in a controlled environment. I can’t wait to get back on the court tonight to do more five-on-five drills. I feel great. I did not feel tired on the court today. The thing I was worried about the most was my wind and I was fine,” said Arenas.

Most players seemed to like the presence of veteran Tony Massenburg in his first day with the Wizards. He might be in the best shape yet and hopefully he will be the missing link at the forward position that the Wizards have been looking for.
He doesn’t look 40. He’s in excellent shape. He’s a savvy veteran. And you can be sure that he’s going to be physical and bang around down there. He’s still got it. The shape that he’s in is phenomenal, and he’s a guy that when called upon, he’ll find a way to get it done,” said Wizards Forward Antwan Jamison.
Draft Pick Nick Young looked fresh and ready to go in both practices today. He could be the missing off the bench player the Wizards have been looking for to replace the departed Jarvis Hayes.
