Washington, D.C–

Just a few days ago Wizards fans were talking about what an amazing performance the Wizards had against the Knicks in overtime. While it was still as loss, it wasn’t another double-digit loss like tonight.

For the Wizards there were a few positives from the game tonight, that included the return of Kyle Kuzma to the line-up and the ability to play the Knicks strong for three quarters, but that was about all we could find from this match-up.

The Knicks went on a 13-5 run in the final three minutes of the third period, highlighted by five points and a steal from Josh Hart, who finished the game with had 23 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists for his third triple-double of the season, Karl-Anthony Towns had 32 points and 13 rebounds.

Kuzma in his return scored just 9 points and was 0-3 on his long-range attempts.

Washington did have a bit of a setback tonight as well, when Bub Carrington fell backward while guarding a player and hit a Knicks player’s knee and then the back of his head on the court.

Carrington left in a wheelchair, covering his face and did not return with a post-traumatic headache. He is expected to be reevaluated on Tuesday and his status for the game against the Bulls on Wednesday will be revealed after they find out the severity of his injury.

Jonas Valanciunas equaled his season high with 22 points for Washington (5-25). Alex Sarr and Malcolm Brogdon each had 18.

While Valanciunas was a big factor in the paint during the first half the game, it looked as if Brian Keefe went with a different offensive set in the fourth quarter and it failed to put together anything that matched Hart and Towns down the stretch.
