Washington, D.C–

When you look at the performance by the Wizards defense against Brooklyn and then you look at what happened tonight against Minnesota… its again two different teams on the court.

Minnesota who has been going in the opposite direction as the Wizards led by the energy of Anthony Edwards. He led the Wolves with 35 points who basically controlled this game from start to finish tonight.

Minnesota had its third 140-plus-point game of the season, while the Wizards allowed 140-plus for the fourth time.

The biggest difference in this game tonight Edwards scored 18 in the third quarter as the Timberwolves pulled away for a 108-79 lead. Their largest lead was 37.

CJ McCollum had 20 points to lead Washington, which at 9-25, now has the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference.

If the Wizards want to find some scoring combination that works, going forward as we get close to the NBA All Star break in a little over a month, they must find a way to take the weight of McCollum and Alex Sarr every night. During the game against Brooklyn, the had a full team effort on both offense and defense. Tonight was the exact opposite, so much that the Wolves didn’t even need play Edwards for the fourth quarter.’

If you want a little bit of an idea how bad it has gotten for the Wizards when they face certain opponents, the Timberwolves have won three consecutive games in Washington for the first time since Jan. 12, 2002 to Dec. 12, 2003.  These are stats that really need to be analyzed as each year they continue to have teams set records that we would rather not see happen… but as this story continues, there will most likely be something else as they continue to develop this young team.
