Washington, D.C–

For the first time this season, the Washington Wizards have won 2 games in a row! Yea, you heard that right… two games. Just a few weeks ago, we didn’t even think they would even win 2 games this season.

After the 116-112 victory tonight over the Grizzlies, the Wizards seem to have something going. The question is why now? What has changed, other than having healthy players on the court? Synergy. It would appear the Wizards players have found a way to play together, both starters and the bench.

Tonight, it was a scoring combination of Alex Sarr 20 points and CJ McCollum, 16 points for Washington (7-23), which earned its first back-to-back victories of the season and second win over Memphis in nine days. McCollum scored six in the fourth quarter.

In Wizards standard fashion this season, this game came down to the fourth quarter and they almost let it slip away.

Just as they have in the games they have won this season, both McCollum and Khris Middleton came to the rescue and combined to score the last eight points while Washington held Memphis scoreless for the next 2:35.

One final hope from the Grizzlies, came in the form of Ja Morant, who hit a dunk and added a late 3-pointer off a turnover to close it to 114-112 with 6 seconds remaining, but Middleton’s two free throws sealed it.

The Wizards hope to keep the good things going as the Suns come to town tomorrow night.
