Washington, D.C–
After watching the Wizards barely show up against Toronto on the road to start the preseason, tonight as they returned home, it looked like completely different team when it came down to wire.
Kyle Kuzma’s 22 points and 6 rebounds were the best so far this season and at times minus the 6 turnovers showed us spurts of the old Kyle Kuzma from 2023-24 season. Can this be the equation for the young guys that the Wizards need? Let’s hope so because the first two pre-season games were absolutely awful offensively.
The Wizards got a ton of help from the errant shooting by the Raptors tonight as well. They were 2 for 15 from long range in the first half, but only trailed the Wizards by 1 point at the half.’
Some of the biggest differences from the first two games was the addition of Kyshawn George into the starting line-up for the Wizards.
George, the 24th pick in the 2024 draft by the Wizards again had another show out performance tonight finishing 3 for 4 from the field and 3 for 3 from long range.
Corey Kispert continues to show improvements from last season and could very well be the X factor for this team going into the season. Kispert finished with 20 points in 26 minutes off the bench tonight. Without Deni Avdija in the mix this season, Kispert is expected to have a breakout season.
Next up for the Wizards, another trip back to NYC on Monday to face the Nets before returning home of Friday night for their final preseason game before the season opener on October 24th against Boston.
